Realistic pencil drawing of Gia Carangi. Gia Carangi was one of the first supermodels in the 1970s/80s.

Her tragic story of a broken home, meteoric rise to success, drug abuse and eventual downfall is told in the biography „Thing of Beauty: The Tragedy Of Supermodel Gia“. There is also a movie very loosely based on her life story.

She was one of the first women in America to die of AIDS.

In my opinion she is the female counterpart of James Dean.

Ihre tragische Geschichte wird in der Biografie „Thing of Beauty: The Tragedy Of Supermodel Gia“ erzählt: Ein gebrochenes Zuhause, eine rebellische Natur und der schnelle Aufstieg in einer gefühllosen Modewelt, Drogensucht und anschließender steiler Fall.
Sie war eine der ersten Frauen in Nordamerika, die an AIDS gestorben ist.

Aus meiner Sicht ist sie das weibliche Pendant zu James Dean.
